About O2

O2 currently offer mobile telephone, landline and broadband services, with all their broadband packages offering up to 20mb download speed through standard ADSL connection. One of the best features offered by O2 broadband is its flexibility – as well as offering a 30 day happiness guarantee they also offer a ‘rolling contract’ option, which is great if you don’t want to be tied down to a long-term subscription. ‘Rolling contracts’ require a £30.63 set up fee, but after that you’re free to cancel your subscription at any time, providing you give 30 days’ notice.

Best Bits

If you’re an existing O2 mobile customer of 2 years or longer O2 will give you a whole 6 months free subscription to either their ‘The All Rounder or ‘The Works’ broadband packages – a saving of up to £63! And as if that wasn’t enough they will also give existing O2 customers a £5 discount off every bill subsequent bill! Not with O2? Not to worry – they are still offering 3 months free on subscriptions to both ‘The All Rounder’ and ‘The Works’ packages to regular customers.

These great deals on broadband made all the more competitive when you factor in the incredibly low O2 line rental costs - only £7.50!

Rubbish 1

Unlimited usage is a lie, fair usage is about 30-60gb a month, they give one warning I reduced it to 25 a month and they still kicked me off. My package was called O2 unlimited but I was kicked off for going over a limit they keep a secret from you. Useless.

Good value 4

Best deal available, spend £10 per quarter on a pay-as-you-go sim and get half price broadband! Would have been 5* if i could have got better that 5Mb download speed (not O2's fault) £7.50 pcm, what are you waiting for? go for it!

O2 excellent 5

O2 are brilliant - their service and billing are fantastic and their customer service people are well trained and helpful. I changed after having disastrous experiences with Pipex (now Tiscali ) and have not had any problems or issues at all. The customer service telephone number is free, the service is relaible and I recommend them highly.

A bit more about O2

The O2 brand started life in the mid-80s as ‘Cellnet’, a joint venture between BT and Securicor. BT was later to acquire Securior’s stake in the company and in 2002 rebranded it O2. Since then O2 has become one of the UK’s most high-profile brands, famously sponsoring the millennium dome, or to give it its official name: The O2! O2 was later sold off to Spanish telecommunications giant Telefónica, who now have adopted the O2 brand for all their European operations. Part of the agreement was to retain the O2 brand and keep operations based in the UK. O2 remains the UK’s second largest mobile telephone provider.
