Broadband Bundles

Broadband, telephone and TV bundles started to become popular during last year 2007 and are now being
heavily advertised and promoted by several of the large ISPs. A bundle is a
package deal where you buy more than one service from a single provider and then
receive one monthly bill for all your usage.
Buying your broadband, telephone,
digital TV and even mobile services from one supplier can offer big savings
compared with using separate companies for each service. Bundles are not suited
to everyone, for instance you may not be in an area where your local exchange
has not been unbundled (LLU) allowing companies to install their own equipment
and offer the best deals. Also being reliant on one supplier for all your
services may not appeal to some. However for many of us the bigger savings and
convenience of one combined monthly bill is very attractive and it looks as if
the ISPs will continue to offer some great deals as they try to tempt customers
away from other suppliers.
Broadband and Telephone Bundles
There are many broadband and telephone bundles, TALK TALK offer free broadband
with their Talk Global Anytime
and TALK Global Evening and Weekend and Virgin
Media currently offer broadband for £4.50 a month when taken with a
telephone service for £11 (includes line rental). Other companies that have
installed their own equipment in local exchanges (LLU local loop unblundling)
are able to offer good deals including Tiscali and AOL.
Triple Bundles
Several companies offer bundles of three services together, with broadband,
telephone and digital TV packages available from BT, Virgin Media,
SKY and Tiscali. SKY’s See Speak Surf deals start from £16 a
month, that include 1 entertainment TV mix 2Mb broadband and free evening and
weekend calls plus BT line rental of £10.50 or for £21 a month you can choose 6
entertainment mixes.
Virgin Media use cable to deliver their products and have several triple and
even quad bundles including their “3 for £30” and “4 for £40”. These packages
include unlimited downloads (subject to fair use) and also include telephone
line rental (no BT line needed).
